Back Next Depth and Breadth

The ladies walked in
filled with consciousness
They sat down
I felt filled with
expectation
something important
about myself
was about to be discussed
The here and now
flooded me with energy
for what was to be said
would be provocative
What tribute
did I pay
to the gods
to deserve
such honor?
Their silence
was overwhelming
It didn't matter
I was filled
with such a sense of life
The one with the greater
prestige spoke
She had heard
I was selling
sea salt
and wanted to know
whether or not
there was anymore
left
The air dried up
The room became desert
Was this
the depth and breadth
of my fame?
