Back Next Pyramid Complex

He built the pyramid
of himself
the base was there
and he just went upward
The last view
of himself
before he fell downward
to die
was that his framework
was in order
the pavement swept
the elevator sparkled
and the canopy
leading into the building
colorful and clean
the buildings' flag
flapping in the wind
The lawn immaculate
The pool rinsed
The steps washed
The air smelling
of a mixture
of clorox and dew
His neighborhood was
tailored and pressed
like the new suit
which he wore
His outer world
of pyramid order
held him
perfectly together
He breathed in
its dignified glue
