Lost on Boston Thoroughfare in the Center Square of Buildings I have not build Far far away from me on a bench a woman figure sits erect On the far side of a stone ledge in a long shadow made of late afternoon sun sit I Cars and Buses endlessly come by Sun-glint sidewalks go on and on into an incandescent sky Lost am I in a painting I can't paint In a play I can't direct On the silver manhole in the scanter square my desire is to lay with that woman over there watch the sun return from its downhill fall all traffic ceases all eyes meet mine on the manhole in the center square when this happens no one is lost everyone is there

Lost on Boston Thoroughfare
in the Center Square
of Buildings I have not build
Far
far away from me on a bench
a woman figure sits erect
On the far side of a stone ledge
in a long shadow
made of late afternoon sun
sit I
Cars and Buses
endlessly come by
Sun-glint sidewalks
go on and on
into an incandescent sky
Lost am I
in a painting
I can't paint
In a play I can't direct
On the silver manhole
in the scanter square
my desire is to lay
with that woman
over there
watch the sun
return from its downhill fall
all traffic ceases
all eyes meet mine
on the manhole
in the center square
when this happens
no one is lost
everyone
is there
