what it means
to be
Jewish.
I've been through
Bagels and lox
quiet Sabbaths
and
mitzvah days
and even live in
a
Israel
who once
seeing the local
rabbi
with his long
greyandblackbeard
and blackfrock
and blackhat
speaking to two
others
near the towns' clock
did I smell
something Jewish-
medival
of a time
gone by
when Jewish
Fathers
roamed the streets
and just their nods
of a love
made the day
go right
