Back Next Breathe

They walked down the corridor of the hospital.
The dark dismal corridor of the hospital
They felt mindless
Noticing and not noticing
Along and feeling estranged
Each walked
As if in a trance
Give me a place
In a sunny park
Springtime
With meadowlarks
Change the scene
Like they do in the movies
From horror
To ecstasy
In a split second
They hung to each other
"Breathe," said the shoeshine boy
Who smacked black polish
Onto everyone's shoe
"Breathe man breathe"
