Having reduced
The
"Great man"
Down to size
And having fixed
The square
Triangle
And Circle
Into its paper proportions
He went
To the publishers
Declared himself normal
Shrewd
And perspicacious
And gave further
Testimony of himself
Then went home
Ate
His cream-raisined pie
And repeated
Over and over
With each mouthful
His credo:
I believe in harsh realities
Without illusions
I believe in harsh realities
Without illusions
And then
With the last mouthful
Of the pie
Opened the daily paper
And read out the facts.
